US Air Traffic Control Hacked



The systems using commercial softwares and web applications had been hacked a lot in past few years. A similar system compromise took place at the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which is responsible for Air Traffic Control.

Among the recent successful hack attacks, one took place in 2006, a viral attack on the Internet spread and forced the FAA to shut down some of its air traffic control (ATC) systems in Alaska. Another took place on a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) computer in February 2009 in which hackers gained access to private information regarding FAA employees.

FAA needs revise their policies because currently, they are modernizing their systems by incorporating commercial softwares at the expense of system security.
